Here are some interesting historical facts about America's Independance Day
1.) Independance Day honors the birthday of the United States of America, July 4, 1776.
2.) The Declaration of Independance was actually signed on July 2, 1776, but the final version was completed on July 4, 1776.
3.) "Yankee Doodle" was originally sang by the British to poke fun at the US troops because they were not as organized and clean-cut as the British troops.
4.) John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson within a couple of hours of eachother on July 4, 1826. James Monroe passed away on July 4, 1831.
5.) In the year 1870, Congress declared July 4th to be a government holiday.
6.) The first Fourth of July celebration was at the White House in 1804.
7.) Fourth of July is the most popular day of the year for people to have picnics and cook on their grill.
8.) Every year Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest is held. In 2013 the record for the Male eating the most hot dogs was broken when a contestant ate 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
9.) In 1778 George Washington allowed all of the troops to have a double ration of rum to celebrate the holiday.
10.) "The Stars and Stripes" became an unofficial theme song for Independance Day on July 4th 1897 when John Sousa first had a band play the song at the Manhattan Beach Music Hall.
